Dune: Awakening is an Open World Multiplayer Survival Game by Funcom, set in the famous universe of Frank Herbert's Dune franchise, to be released in May 2025.
Surviving the Universe's Most Dangerous Planet
As a Survival game at its core, Dune: Awakening combines the foundations of this famous genre with MMO aspects, resulting in large-scale, persistent and highly immersive world with extensive exploration, social hubs, filled with other players, server-wide politics and conflict, with an engaging plus cinematic storyline inspired by Frank Herbert's legacy.
The Journey
Venture through the vast unexplored deserts of Arrakis and dominate them by sticking to rocky ground to avoid the ever-present colossal sandworms, managing your thirst by consuming water or blood, avoiding dangerous hazards, defeating your enemies and hiding from the ravaging sandstorms.
Claim your territory and make it your own where you can build a base of operations of any size. Assemble fabricators, refineries, power generators, wind and water machinery as you progress to equip you with survival apparatuses to traverse the world with ease and gather resources; robust gear to explore or fight; deadly weapons to cut or shoot; and vehicles to harvest or destroy.
You can play with your friends, form a guild and can take a side in the war that rages on Arrakis by pledging your alligience to one of the Houses to fight for control over valuable resources - such as the precious spice - against other players in ever-changing vast PVP maps or by gaining political advantage in weekly Landsraad disputes.
Otherwise, play as a lone wolf and take all the profit to yourself by supporting both sides with your talents.
Through a variety of different maps, you can visit famous Dune lore locations such as Arrakeen and other social HUBS to hang around with players. or meet some of your favourite characters, like Duke Leto Atreides, Duncan Idaho, Beast Rabban, among others.
The Story
In her obedience to the Bene Gesserit, Lady Jessica gave birth to a girl instead of Paul Atreides, triggering major events that have altered the course of House Harkonnen's assault on House Atreides on Arrakis. Duke Leto Atreides survived and both Houses are now locked in a conflict over the planet's valuable spice sources, with the Fremen nowhere to be seen.
It is in the midst of this conflict that your story begins - as a prisioner sent to find the Fremen in the universe's most dangerous planet while a war rages at its surface. Make your way through the various trials, master true desert power, face your fear, pledge allegiance to a side and wake the sleeper.
