Before starting your journey on Arrakkis, you need to choose a Region, World and Sietch.

If you want, you can make a manual selection, or let the game pick the best option it can find for you based on the ping and friends you have playing in that server.

  • Region - Geographical location for picking servers;

  • World - Game servers, compose by Worlds and Social Maps;

  • Sietch - Survival Map instances, capable of holding up to 60 players;

  • Suvival Map - Hagga Basin map;

  • Social Maps - Maps that are linked to multiple servers, such as the Harko Village (social HUB), Deep Desert, among others.

SERVER LOCKING
The Dune: Awakening servers have a mechanism that kicks in when there is a very high level of player activity within a certain timeframe. The system sees that the server is becoming too popular and prevents new characters from being created.

This is to ensure that servers don't become overpopulated, something that could result in long queues. These server locks are temporary and the system periodically checks to see if it's safe to remove the lock.

After an activity check is made, if the player activity level exceeds an acceptable threshold, the lock remains in place. If the activity level is within an acceptable range, the lock is removed, allowing more players to create characters on that server.

Please note that this threshold dynamically updates to balance the server activity, which typically results in more slots opening up over time. However, if a server is very popular and has a lot of regular activity, it may take longer for the server to unlock.

The entire World that had the server I wanted to join was locked!
Worlds are not supposed to lock, only individual servers. This was an issue that we have now resolved.

I want to play with my friends, but the server is locked. What should I do?
If a specific server you want to join is locked, you can check back regularly to see if new slots have been enabled. You can also choose to start a character on another Sietch in that World allowing you to visit your friends' server and play together.
