Character Transfers let you move your character and certain associated items between eligible servers.

What transfers with your character

When you transfer, you keep:

  • Character Name
  • Character Appearance
  • Unlocked Knowledge
  • Level (XP) and attribute point allocation including Perks and Corrupted Perks
  • Completed Journey steps
  • All equipped items, all items in the character's backpack (main inventory), and all items in the Hotbar
  • All followers (up to the follower limit), including their inventories, levels, and stats

What you must do before transferring (recommended)

To avoid issues during transfer, please ensure the following before starting:

  • Your character is not over-encumbered
  • Your character is not no longer a Clan leader
  • You have all the items you wish to transfer

If you are in a Clan and wish to transfer thralls, we recommend using the Thrall Trading Post to list them before leaving the Clan and purchasing them after the transfer. Make sure to coordinate with your Clanmates first.

We strongly recommend ensuring your character only has unmodded items and thralls before initiating a transfer. Modded content may not transfer correctly and may cause the transfer to fail.

How to start a Character Transfer

You can start a transfer from in-game after pressing "ESC" and choosing the "Server Transfer" option under the "Character" section.
Requirement: Your character must meet all transfer conditions before initiating the process.

Where your character spawns after transferring

After a successful transfer, your character will spawn near a starting location on the destination server.

Allowed transfers

Character Transfers support the following directions:

  • Official → Official ✅ (with rules depending on server type)
  • Official → Unofficial ✅
  • Unofficial → Unofficial ✅
  • Unofficial → Official ❌ (not supported)
  • Any server → Single-player/Co-op ✅
  • Single-player/Co-op → Dedicated servers ❌ (not supported)

Unofficial servers may restrict transfers. Funcom cannot guarantee the reliability of character transfers to Unofficial servers, especially modded servers. This process will have to be done at your own risk.

Transfer rules between Official servers:

  • From PvP → PvP, PvE-C, or PvE
  • From PvE-C → PvE-C or PvE
  • From PvE → PvE only

When transferring, you may choose between Exiled Lands and Isle of Siptah servers. Isle of Siptah requires ownership of the DLC.

Transfer cooldowns and limits

After importing a character, there is a cooldown period before another transfer can be performed.

Official servers:

  • PvE / PvE-C: 24 hours
  • PvP: 7 days

Unofficial servers and Single-player/Co-op:

  • 24 hours

Only one character can be transferred at a time. A character must be imported before another can be exported. Stored characters can be deleted from the Account tab in the Settings menu to free up space, but this is permanent.

When a transfer can’t start

A transfer cannot begin if:

  • The character is over-encumbered
  • The character is in a Clan
  • The destination server does not allow transfers
  • There is already a character on the destination server (unless deleted first)

What happens if there are technical issues

We have made a lot of effort to preserve modded items and thralls during transfer, but cannot guarantee that they will transfer correctly or that they will not cause the transfer to fail entirely.
We cannot provide support for transfers that fail or are incomplete due to the presence of modded items or thralls.
